Path to Mars #979: Space Bling

Space rings aren't just for Saturn anymore

With the holiday season approching, you may wish to add a few space-themed baubles to your shopping (or wish) list. Here are a few space charms guaranteed to put a glint in that special someone’s eye on Christmas morning.

If you happen to be popping the question at the close of this year, and find yourself in Dubai this week (hey, I know my blog demographic) be sure to stop by DUBAI International Jewellery Week where the company SpaceWed will be exhibiting their Space Wedding Rings  from November 10-13, 2011. This will be the “launch” of the first jewellery in the world made of space gold (ie. gold flown in space). The grand prize raffle at the event will be – you guessed it – one pair of Space Rings. I am not making this up.

Win yourself some space bling

If you don’t win the raffle, and find the $17,000 price tag too steep, how about $198 for a pair of minimalist meteorite cufflinks from Starborn Creations?

At a slightly more affordable $75, you can order NASA’s Astronaut Pendant with a bit of Iron Meteorite inset in his chest. Personally, he had me at the cute blue visor.

If you are on a student (or regular person) budget, you could head on over to Etsy, and nab yourself a pair of Planet Saturn Earrings, handcrafted by Szeya.

At only $9, the price is out-of-this-world. You might even have a little left over for a stocking stuffer.

Blast Off!
